“Pandillas palaciegas”

Open studio en la residencia BilbaArte, Bilbao, 2019.

Pandillas Palaciegas parte de la investigación iniciada en 2017 que surge como una necesidad de profundizar en la cultura de diferentes colectivos de jóvenes de la comunidad vasca. Analizando las formas de manifestarse y luchar contra el establishment en una tierra donde la contracultura raya en el folclore, donde el eco de una actitud insubordinada encuentra muchas voces para renovarse luchando en diferentes direcciones. El encuentro entre las escenas punk y queer, y los movimientos skinhead y skater sientan las bases sobre las que se levantan los nuevos palacios chatarra de las distintas bandas. Soportes de instalación que mezclan materiales de desecho y fotografías con elementos decorativos y paneles de cera retroiluminados. También trabajan con material de archivo, video y entrevistas.

Pandillas Palaciegas (Palatial gangs) is the latest project of the Picoletos duo and builds on the research begun in 2017 which emerged as a need to delve further into the culture of different groups of young people within the Basque community. By analysing the ways of demonstrating and fighting against the establishment In a land where the counterculture verges on folklore, where the echo of an insubordinate attitude finds many voices to be renewedby fighting in different directions. The encounter between the punk and queer scenes, and the skinhead and skater movements form the foundation on which to erect the new scrap palaces for the different gangs. Installation media that mix waste materials and photographs with decorative items and back-lit wax panels. They also work with archive material, video and interviews.

Video-documentary. Interviews with different young Basques belonging to different countercultural movements (skate, lgtb, anti-fascist skinheads, punks, among others) about different topics: the underworld, friendship and the countercultural history of the city of Bilbao from their perspective. 1:28 hours duration. 4k format. Two 40-inch led tvs. 2019/2020.
